This has created some challenges for single moms who are left with most responsibilities in the society, including childcare, caring for the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses and are vulnerable to the pandemic. Emergency Response Fund
As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Columbus Foundation launched the Emergency Response Fund to support single moms experiencing financial challenges due to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus. The Foundation works with non-profits to carry out this mission. It gives the highest priority to those non-profits supporting single mothers who are impacted by the Covid-19. United Way of Central Ohio’s Covid-19 Community Response Fund
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact the most vulnerable members of society, United Way of Central Ohio is committed to supporting single mothers by addressing their most basic needs and creating opportunities for student success for their kids. Through the Covid-19 Community Response Fund, the United Way of Central Ohio raised more than $2million in just two months. The primary sources of this fund include corporate sponsors, individual donors, and community members. The raised fund was distributed to the 69 non-profits serving the basic needs of single moms affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Covid-19 Emergency Relief Fund
In partnership with the Licking County Board Commissioners, the Licking County Foundation (LCF) work to distribute the funds provided by the CARES Act to single mothers’ non-profits directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and its regulations. Up to December 30, 2020, the Licking County Foundation will be using the County’s CARES Act Non-Profit Relief Fund to assist single moms who have lost their income due to the pandemic. Although the Licking County Covid-19 Relief Fund will continue to support single moms through non-profits, the organizations should have a look at the eligibility requirements for the program. The Columbus-Franklin County Covid-19 Small Business Response and Recovery Fund
The Covid-19 Small Business Response and Recovery Fund offer grants, technical assistance, and low-interest loans for single mom-owned small businesses affected by the pandemic. The program offers three types of relief to single moms in need of assistance:
Financial Relief
This offers financial support to the existing single mothers’ small businesses in form of loans and grants.
Personal Protective Equipment Procurement Assistance
This program is designed to provide financial assistance to single mom-owned existing small businesses operating around security equipment or those making health improvements required for the reopening of businesses in Columbus City.“
Training and Technical Assistance
The program focuses on providing technical support and training to single mom loan/grant applicants of existing small businesses, and who are looking to maintain their operations within the City of Columbus.
